Recipes from Mercy Community Services Romero Centre clients were at the heart of the A Taste of Belonging event held at the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) on Friday 22 April 2016.
The aim of the event was to celebrate Brisbane’s diversity, with Romero Centre clients sharing recipes from their homeland with food group Wandering Cooks and SLQ’s Alphabet Café, who served their special dishes to guests at the event.
Around 100 people attended this first of its kind event in Brisbane where the cuisines of 11 different countries were represented. Romero Centre’s ‘The Story of Food’ cookbook was promoted at the event and around 30 copies sold.
The proceeds of cookbook sales will go towards supporting the work of Mercy Community Services Romero Centre. You can read more in the ABC’s news story about the event.
