Mercy Community Services’ Movie Night fundraising event saw almost 70 people gathered at Palace Centro Cinemas yesterday evening for a special screening of Hidden Figures to help raise funds for the organisation’s Romero Centre, which supports families, individuals and children facing complicated challenges while seeking asylum and living in Brisbane.
Funds raised through Movie Night ticket sales will go to the Romero Centre, whose qualified team provide vital individualised case management support for asylum seekers, including emergency assistance, accommodation options, legal guidance and pathways to employment. Everyone has the right to feel safe, supported and welcome in the community, and with your help, their lives can be made easier.
Mercy Community Service CEO, Peter Sydes thanked guests including MCS Board members, Sisters of Mercy, valued Romero Centre supporters and MCS employees from Goodna, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Nudgee and Wooloowin offices for attending and supporting this special fundraising event.
We also extend special thanks and acknowledgement to the following organisations for their contribution to the event:
- Village Roadshow Theme Parks (two mega passes for 12 months unlimited entry to Movie World, Sea World, Paradise Country and Wet ‘n’ Wild on the Gold Coast)
- Two lucky guests will be enjoy a performance of Swan Lake thanks to the Queensland Ballet

- Kingston Park Raceway (two races on the Monte Carlo track for two people)
